Polaroid today announced an exclusive licensing agreement with PRD Security Systems, a leading provider of innovative security systems for the retail, healthcare, hospitality, private business and manufacturing industries. Under the agreement, PRD Security Systems will develop a line of Polaroid-branded professional closed-circuit security cameras, digital and network video recorders and monitors for commercial and business use.

Some of the biggest excitement for prospective sales and training managers along with integrators emanated off the floor of last week’s ISC West Conference in Las Vegas from a suite at the Trump International Hotel. There, Polaroid announced that it will enter the commercial security video industry and was looking to appoint regional managers, sales and training managers and interviewing integrators to manage their own protected territories. The company plans to open for business in the early summer with product shipments following a month later.

Bob Hayes, managing director of the Security Executive Council, and Shirley Decker-Lucke, publisher at Elsevier, were first on my agenda on Thursday, my second day at the show. They have a new collaborative venture, announced at ISC West, to produce texts on security topics, both for practitioners and for the 400 colleges with security curriculums. They aim to serve next-gen professionals as well as gathering book ideas from thought leaders in the industry. "They'll tell us what they need and we'll write a book about it," Hayes said.
